It's not about porn!

To all those who believe it's the government's duty to rid the net of vulgarity, I disagree. Besides I regularly use Google, and I'm hardly ever assaulted by links to nudey pics. It's a moot point though.

This isn't about porn. The Central Government is pulling a veil over your heads, and anybody in China, like myself, knows that "vulgarity" means vulgarity but it's also code for any criticism or unscripted discussion of the government. Yes, free countries of the world ought to be more concerned with their own problems and misdoings (like invading sovereign nations), but they shouldn't be apologists for China's injustices and annoyances.

I hate china so much...

I really hate china. Seriously, fuck the chinese. What kind of idiot blames Google for the results it finds? Are they daft enough not to realize that Google doesn't actually host any of these websites, they just provide the capability to search through them?

I'm so liberal Marx would call me a leftist.

I've lived and worked in China and other Asian countries. Humans are Humans and we all do the same things the same ways.....the difference in Asia is that "Private Matters" are done in Private. Sex is great in Asia and everyone has sex but they don't want to see it in public. I can fully understand their position.

I believe in freedom and Human dignity and think the government should do its job of insuring our economies and stay out of everything else.......but this one time I must lean towards the other side:

Do a Google, even for the most innocent of searches, and every possible result comes back including pornography and pedophilia content. This is done intentionally because Google knows that even if it wasn't requested most people will click a porno link if given an easy opportunity.

Keep Google and all the Net free but hold them responsible for their business decisions.

Freedom does not equal unchallenged evil

What is the value of readily accessible photo's of female private parts?

Freedom is freedom from not being persecuted. Freedom is not being harmed. The childish view of freedom is the one espoused by the commenting author, "someone special".

The next immature comment would be "who's to say your morality is my morality?" Morality is not something "personal" but is societal and is based upon tried and true principles. Moral development has its core the consideration of others before one's own biases and wants.

Yeah, I have looked at titty photos. More than once. I knew it was not healthy though. One of the virtues of Communism is the ability to shelter the vulnerable from being violated. Nationalized health care, education standards for all, and apparently protection of youth.

Just another brick in the wall

Everyone knows that eventually China will not manage to deny the chinese people of freedom. They have a right to browse whatever they want.

The more "defenses" they put up, the more it will feel like a prison.

Although many chinese people are indoctrinated by their regime, they will eventually wake up.

When over a billion people wake up, you need more than cornflakes to satisfy their appetite.

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
