Perhaps some sanity?

I'm just happy to see some sanity return to the copyright debate.
For years the government has complied with industry requests to extend copyright protection and to include items which are specifically excluded by the Constitution.
Copyright has the dual purpose of protecting the works of artists and advancing the arts by making those works public property after a time. The courts have decided that as long as the "artist" is a corporation the second purpose is null and void, allowing perpetual protection.
They have also decided to extend protection to, "useful articles," ie software. This is plainly unconstitutional!
Whatever happened to the Fair Use clause? How long before we don't even own the CD we just bought, only a "license" to listen to it?

At the bush haters

Please keep in mind that you now have a VP coming in who is essentially an RIAA bagman and a president who is going to have to pay back Hollywood and the music industry for helping to get him elected. And please do some research on the judge that made the decision before you blame it on Bush influence. In other words, stop blathering, educate yourself, and stop fitting facts and events into some agenda you have.

The judge ruled for the RIAA, and then corrected HIMSELF, and the appeals court upheld the reversal (which is an anti-RIAA decision). Exactly where is the influence from a President coming into play in this situation?

Dear RIAA

May your first day in hell last 10000 years.

And may it be the shortest.

way to speak up mont

I agree with with mont. With Bush leaving, maybe a little bit of justice will be doled out for a little while before the next tyrant begins to spew his cud on the peasents. Joe Biden has been caught in bed with the RIAA more than once and who is his buddy?

Cool.

Maybe the judge feels more like a judge now that Bush is going.

Screw the RIAA

Screw the RIAA and groups like Metallica too. Oh poor me, (Metallica) we can't afford a solid gold toilet and will have to get the gold plated one because of those evil people sharing our music. Bow down before us and Hollywood where the world revolves around us. Those people make me want to puke, including the political hacks in Hollywood too. Stick to your music then shut the hell up, we don't care about your socialist liberal ideals either, Madonna and Bruce the socialist Springstien, kooks.

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
