The HTC Touch HD has an auto-backlight feature, and I've not had a problem with it outside in daylight. However, it's not exactly scorching sunlight here in the UK.
This would be interesting on mobile phones, especially PDAs.
Knowing how often I need to squint and cover my PDA screen while trying to send a message, it would be very useful indeed.
Laptop, rarely used under the sun anyway.
