Companies are now leasing comps

Lot of companies are now trying to get lease agreements with vendors rather than buy them. That way there is less expense in buying the computers and they dont have to pull their hair on disposing them. Security is a concern, but when vendors are HP, Dell etc. they have good policies for disposing / reusing PC's safely.

You'd be nuts to recycle a drive

Citibank would be nuts to try and recycle the drives to anyone outside the company. Shred those -- it's a heck of a lot less expensive than risking the problems of a data leak.

With 5 Minutes To Live....

When Ultee' Was On: Mitchel Air Base, City Bank was Big Backer, yet Now, its hard to feel sorry for those creeps. They Don't Like US.

Its' Sorrowful What Stock Manipulation Has Done & Right Before Really BIG War. For Instance, THE Ultee' Charities & Lease Back Program Could Probably Save Citibank entirely. Then I'd Trade Citicorp for AMD, What Bargin that is & Tort Yahoo for another 20$ Billion to Make Up Difference.

However, If NOT Vista Ultimate Computers, YOU Keep Them, Ultee' Wants NO Junk xp 'Puters. Same with settop Boxes, Vista Only, meaning dual core atom. NO Crummy Stuff Here.

New Song: "With 52,000 Computers That Will Not Boot"....LaLaLa-LaLa.

Corporates don't "own" their equipment

They lease it, so that they have an expense item rather than a capital item.

The gear belongs to the finanace company, and what they do will depend on the type of lease.

IBM and HP might even destroy the machines for free

I think IBM or HP might even be willing to destroy those machines for a marginal fee or for free. Imagine what happens to the computer market when someone dumps 52000 pcs at one time on ebay....

Do you think the move was justified?
