Well, business love leasing MS licenses. To encroach on the channel effectively, means to me that MS has to be offering leasing options comparable to what channel partners do...so there you go. maybe that's what this if for.

the result of this is that you are force fed utter utter crap like Vista, and they take your money for it.

Anyone who gets into bed with Microsoft needs their head examining unless the initial cash offer is enough to retire on straight away.
