In reality Satt. phone big deal not so much GPS thing!!
Satt. phone is not something you can just buy and get just like that you need to go through some paper work. ID, etc are reported and checked verified, etc and then they are allotted a number. This procedure is the same all around the world because different satellites are used and belong to different crop's.
And how did the terrorists manage before technology?
And how did the terrorists manage before such technology? That might be something to do with the police/security/intelligence services not having the technology to discover and track them. Now we have the means to stop terrorist actions while still in the planning stages. Technology may well be a double edged sword, but I think in general we’ve got the dulled end (even when not considering all the other benefits tech brings).

How does one “prevent technological advancements from being tools in the hands of the agents of terrorism”?
We can't blame technology for what happened because they only use it as tools. Scissors and knife can be a deadly weapon in a psycho hand, but in doctor's hand it can safe lives.
Just hope they don't synchronize their attacks using wifi netbooks or other gadgets or we're toast.
Or maybe use a microwave weapon (sorry this is available since 60s) or a Nokia mobile phone to make picture of their objectives, send them through MMSes and use their phone GPS to coordinate their attack at at time synchronized through internet at www.microsoft.com.
--[aside from the fact a satellite phone is said to have been recovered from two dead terrorists, a GPS map of South Mumbai was found in the terrorists’ fishing trawler]--

What... wait! They used a PHONE and a MAP? Truly these terrorists are the masters of technology. This clearly wouldn't have been possible much before the year 2000.

The CIA and Pentagon must have their work cut out understanding the ramifications of new and rapidly evolving technologies such as the telephone.
If Douglas Adams was still alive he'd have to amend one of his best lines:

"I don't think anybody would argue now that the Internet isn't becoming a major factor in our lives. However, it's very new to us. Newsreaders still feel it is worth a special and rather worrying mention if, for instance, a crime was planned by people 'over the Internet.' They don't bother to mention when criminals use the telephone, a fishing trawler or the M4 or discuss their dastardly plans 'over a cup of tea,' though each of these was new and controversial in their day."
Technologies are responsible to facilitate homicidal actions but is also responsible in making medicine to stop voices in some heads like god instructing you to "go out and kill in my name".

The only blood thirsty homicidal god that I know of is mentioned in the Bible as Satan the Devil.

Technologies falls on the real of materialism which the devil uses to fool mankind into a servitude of self government trough violence.

The power of the gadget sends people running in the streets, just as much a plane buzzes an ancient populated civilization. The Devil is the god behind the wizards with their arts & gadgets.
Well we all know pakistani's are going to get the blame - The canadian indians are at it already....

just another reason for the US to invade pakistan too (probably in the name of helping the worldwide economy!)

Just like how they did in Eagle-Eye, but this time with little less tech help.

Somehow I doubt terrorists are using twitter to coordinate attacks.
I'm such a fool, I thought radical islam and terrorists were responsible. Now I know I was wrong.
