Indian entrepreneurial types are swarming silicon valley looking for venture capital. They then set up shop in California and claim to be an American company, but in truth all of their engineering and services are done in Bangalore and other parts of India. And the media and politicians are blaming Americans for not being qualified? That is nonsense. I know many programmers that are consistently laid off because much of the work and engineering is being done in India now.

Iran is not America's biggest threat in the future, it's India and their eagerness to take American jobs.

We have ONLY Indians driving our taxis in Australia and QANTAS, Australias national airline wants to sack all the pilots and cabin crew and replace them with Indians who will work for low crap wages. Most of the Indians get their pilots licence through bribes, not training, so we are in deep shit.

I am Indian as well, but I agreee with coments given on this page, I think that most Indian developers are book worms, just had a recent interview with one of them and he basically had the java api infront of him and firing questions, I terminated the interview as I knew this guy was the biggest ass.

In my opinion most of these guys are only book worms and rote all the api and basically dont know how things work in real world.

Sorry but the Indian schooling system makes them book worms and thats what is reflected in the work life as well.

My daughter goes to school in NJ where she is the only girl in her class that is not Indian. The other girls told her her parents said they are not allowed to be friends with American kids!!! They are the racists GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY!!! The comment the kids get in trouble for in the class in Indians rule Americans drool!!!!!! Where the heck am I? The don't even volunteer with anything in school! It is just take take take!!!!!!!

I am working as a SDET in USA (I am originally from East Europe)for 14 years already and can tell about Indians in R&D field--arrogant, not friendly, have very poor people skills, no sense of humor, have no respect for whites, women, blacks, other immigrants, etc if you are not their boss. They can't work at the same time on few projects.
It's very obvious they know what they want and how to behave with Americans, they have a goal to take over the USA and entire world in IT area and raise children ( a lot of children!)in the West countries but they don't want to integrate into West culture at the same time. I think all IT companies should stop to outsourcing in India.

I have lived and worked with Indians around the world (Europe, UAE, Canada, USA, Australia) and I have yet to meet one that lived up to his/her opinion of themselves. They are arrogant, rarely produce anything of quality, have more excuses for failure, yet when pursued hide behind the racist card. Unfortuneatly, as in the UK, the USA has allowed them to take advantage of liberal immigration rules, for each 'worker' you will get unlimited numbers of relatives. Soon, the issues with welfare, pensions, schooling, medical coverage etc. will start to surface as will the decline in neighbourhoods that start to resemble Indian slums. They are politically aware, so they will get their people into government. It is already to late, they will not stop at taking over motels, gas stations and local stores. They are an incredibly adaptable fungus.

India has always fought for world peace be it giving refuge to the Dalai Lama and fighting a war with China to protect him or 'Ahimsa'(non violence) preached by Mahatama Gandhi. Indians believe the world is one family and fighting & wars only add to misery and lead to no solutions.

Would like to add that Rajeev Motwani a professor at Stanford was the mentor of Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the founders of google.Ravi Arimilli an IBM Fellow and Chief Architect has won IBM's Inventor of the Year award each year since 1998. Microsoft has invested most in its India research centers outside of USA in its fight with google for search supremacy and this has inturn payed rich dividends as some of its most popular tools have its origin in India.

There maybe issues with some of the stuff coded by Indian developers, but remember that the father of email was an Indian(Sabeer Bhatia of hotmail and to me the father of cloud computing too perhaps),the main founder father of google was an Indian, Chief Technology Officer at Yahoo for many years was an Indian(Prasad Bhaarat Ram),Kavitark Ram Shriram is the founding board member of Google and one of the first investors in Google, The chief technology officer at Daimler Chrysler was an Indian for many years,Ferrari F1 cars use software made by TCS(an Indian company). The Dean of Kellogg School of Management and now the dean of INSEAD is Dipak Jain an Indian, Nitin Nohria is the Dean of the Harvard Business School.

The list is endless..

Please do not forget the recalls of American & Japanese cars which occurs routinely,the shambolic products being churned out by Airbus like the A380, the 'dreamliner' project of Boeing that remains a 'dream'. If they had used indian technology and engineers then they would not only be better of both in terms of net cost incurred but also would have a far superior output produced on time.

Also one of the highest no. of miss universe and miss world come from India hence certainly all of us do not dress like monkeys.

We have a few issues with the civic sense of some of the less educated people in India & with some of our politicians and government agencies who are responsible for our infrastructure but trust me, indians coming from a good education background are in a totally different league.

Lord.. I hate sounding racist, but the facts are the facts. Who built Europe and the united states ? All the great technologies that you use.. 99% of them, were developed by europeans or americans of European ancestry or Jewish ancestry..
The rest of the planet, with the lone exception being the japanese, are sucking on the breast of the rest of us.
An example: We gave a major project to our indian development group. They kept on reporting, 25% -- 50% ---90% complete. When we looked at the code base, absolutely nothing was done, so the project was moved back to the states and finished in 3 months... I give the indians credit though, they certainly have put their hooks into every facet of IT

I work with Indians developers at the moment and one of them has just pissed me off so badly that, I had to google "indian developers" and find some article to write my angry opinion... So why do they really suck? Because they are big slackers and will do everything to cut corners and sacrifice the quality, but wait, isn't it the quality that seems to be missing from every project where Indian developers were involved? Also, their working style is same as their lifestyle - lame and crappy!

ROFL The worst SonyEricsson ad ever... Let me rephrase the "INDIAN CODERS working on applications" means "indian CODERS (not programmers at all - just stupid code monkeys) eating curry and developing some crappy buggy stuff".
Conclusion: NEVER BUY SONY ERICSSON!

Yes, one more reason for revolution. American companies import developers from overseas, while people like myself (American born) would LOVE to learn computer languages at a high level...but can't afford the schooling here in America. I've taught myself a few languages, but that's not the same as receiving professional instruction.

and we all know what happened to Detroit and what the world thinks of American made cars. It died and most of them are unreliable junk with low rent interiors and low power engines.

Japanese cars were laughed at in the 1960's and 1970's. But they were cheap. By the 1980's they were the most reliable, and their parts were still cheap. By the 1990's they were in every market that mattered and had overtaken many of the home grown makers. By 2008 Toyota has overtaken GM as worlds largest proucer.

The Indian programmer is going the same way. Today he is cheap, in 10 years he will be reliable. 10 years after that he will be respected. And 10 years after that he will be the one with the greatest tech.

India has a space agency. More millionaires than almost all western countries, and several billionaires, famously the Tata and Steel giant Lakshmi Mittal.

Extra info - the japs are now under attack from the Koreans etc. And the Japs are still struggling to make luxury priced cars that they can sell in Europe. America is buying the Lexus, but Europeans are sticking with Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Audi, Maserati, Ferrari, etc.

sure, intel,microsoft, and some big name companies have their hq's in the US. but i doubt that the brain behind the products (core2 micrcoarchitecture for example, along with corei7) are yanks.

I personally work for one of the highest ranking SEO firms in North America (We rank #1 for the term SEO Services out of the entire US Beanstalk SEO), and you wouldn't believe the number of horror stories I hear from people that have out sourced!!

I've talked to clients whose websites have been removed from Google Index, paid for programming and received nothing, received horrible programming that had to be redone, and in one case the developer after he was finished with the clients website duplicated it and set it up for himself to compete against his client!

As if everything else in life you pay for what you get. That being said we do employee several Indian teams but we've spent years finding the right fits, and even then we've had issues ourselves.

I'm American and I don't know anyone who owns a Sony-Ericsson phone. So... I guess... who cares?

From the mouths of my Indian friends who work in the industry, in the USA:

For the most part, the jobs that are farmed out to India are for the non-critical parts of development (front-end development, etc.). This is mostly because, while there are trained peope there, there is a lot less oversight that can be provided on the output there, and the labor is cheap. 

This isn't to say that all the labor there is cheaper and lower quality--there are many exceptions--but companies are going to have most of their meaningful work done on local soil, even if there are some development houses elsewhere.

That said, there are a *lot* of people of Indian descent working in tech firms on American soil; it seems much more than naturalized Americans. But who is to say they're not Americans too?

I am taking programming jobs from sites like elance.com almost everyday
All my clients are complaining about the extremely poor quality of work done by indians programmers and tell that they will NEVER EVER use one again
So, I predict Sony Ericsson will go out of business
