At least XM may be something American that right ponders may fancy.
If the music labels really want to stop piracy (or at least greatly reduce it) - why aren't they offering worldwide music licensing on reasonable terms? There are only 4 or 5 big labels that represent most of the world's music anyway - they need to get together on this.

Frankly, I can't believe that they don't even offer EU-wide licensing in many cases. This leads to services such as iTunes being forced to charge different prices within the EU, which then the EU wants to get upset at Apple about it.

Especially for streaming services, like XM & Sirius' internet-only subscriptions, Slacker.com, and the like - the labels should offer reasonable licensing rates so that the services can be sold around the world.

FWIW - disenfranchised XM listeners who miss the XM on AOL and don't live in the US might try buying a gift card from a US online store and using it to buy XM Online, but I'm not sure if it would work or not. Just an idea, really.
Donk, as I am listening to Howard Stern right now and see your comment, I recommend you look into Sirius' internet radio stream subscriptions. People write into the Stern show saying that they are streaming it from Asia, Africa, and Europe fairly often. Do check it out at sirius.com
I know that the requirements say that I shouldn't, but I have been streaming XM using Ubuntu with Firefox for at least two years, and whatever audio bits came with whatever version of Ubuntu was current at teh time.

One thing to observe is that the online XM radio channel lineup is not always the same as the satellite channel line up. Some things are available online that are not available on XM satellite and vice-versa.
Moved to Europe. I miss cheese burgers, HoHos and... Howard Stern the most. So, wiht no possiblility for XM, I turned to P2P.

Sorry XM! It's a world econemy, get with it!!!

Even my favorite TV shows are streamed on the internet, Yet I am blocked because I am outside the US.

Thank you P2P! Thank you Comedy Central! At least I get my Southpark streamed.
AOL are Tossers!!! They are about to lose my account!! The new Radio Service with Last fm is garbage and a total mess!!! Do they care? of course not!!! Goodbye AOL, you have your head up your arse!!!
My sister likes that crap piece of software/spyware she has on her PC. AOL is horrible and takes over your PC. Howard Stern is a huge piece of perverted crap who should be flushed down the toilet.

The receivers you buy in Europe usually don't have XM-radio support.
My Denon Receiver has no XM-radio support but the American models do.
