This sounds like the offer at the eBay someone had posted a while ago - buy a PS2 priced at 5000$ and recieve a free BMW.
So if we want a "free" PS3 we just need to buy an overpriced Bravia model.
Seems this limited offer in practice is: being overcharged only by Sony but not by their retailers...
Re-launch of the deal.

From late November/early December '07, up until the end of January '08, we were offered the opportunity to purchase from the range of FullHD Bravia units and get a free 40GB PS3.

Shame it was via redemption: waited 3 months for the telly to arrive, and then another 3 weeks for the PS3.
This isn't bad news. For the consumer or Sony. With HD-DVD dead, or at least on death row Blu-Ray reigns supreme. By giving away a PS3 with their TV, they're going to:
-Sell more TVs
-Get more Blu-Ray players on the market
-Get more PS3s on the market

Those last two will help to drive in cash flow from their games and Blu-Ray discs - both of which will be steady income.
If you check out 1stAudioVisual, they are also doing this on select Sony panels. I discovered this after I had bought one, and they emailed me further offers a week later. Ha ha ha! Grrr damn and blast!
well companies have been givving away free 400 and 500 $ blu-ray players with their tvs since november in north america
not that big of a deal also here if u buy 360 pro console for 399 u get gh:3 added
It's not a surprise, Sony were off loading PS3s with some TVs in the UK over Xmas.

I should know, I picked up a V3000 with PS3 for £899 - which was quite a bargain then (before the offer it was on the shelf as a combo for £1399)
SONY has been doing this here in singapore over the last 2 months to promote the new 400 series at the same time.
