My thought on serving time is based around the prisoner being dipped in a colour dye (naked of course - face and all etc) a colour for each crime zone. 
The person is then allowed back into society - let society be the prison guards.
This scheme would hopefully result in a lot of self imposed home detention.

I can't believe the weak crap that's being posted here. We don't let children fail classes. We don't let children give valentines in school unless they give one to everyone in the class. We're discouraged from letting our elementary school kids have birthday parties that only invite some kids and not others.

We're raising a bunch of self-entitled babies. The 13 year old is a casualty of the infantilization of America. Guess what, life is rough. Bullies exist in the workplace, the schoolyard, online, and sometimes even in your own house.

Suicide is Darwin's way of telling the parents they fail and propagating their genes. Be it parenting, or mental instability, my guess is that this girl had it coming.

If the harassment was really so bad there's hundreds of steps she could have taken to avoid the abuse including reporting online harassment to the authorities.

The next thing you know people are going to start suing over getting dumped cause it "causes mental distress" or some bs. Oh wait... people ARE getting sued over breaking up.

the background summary is that Megan sufferd from ADD and depression, her parents moved her to the Immaculate Conception School that banned makeup and jewlery. when stuff started tuning nasty with "Josh Evans" she had an argument with her parents about the language she used to reply to the nasty messages and the fact that she didnt log off when her mother told her to. 20 mins later she was found hanged and a closet.

What was the b*tch's motive for tormenting a young girl, all while deceiving her into believing that she was a male in his mid-teens? Maybe the woman was possibly even fooling the girl into thinking it was a love/infatuation ruse with her alter ego as a male teen and messing with her emotionally...who knows? I do believe it was cruel no matter what the case may be. And last time I checked, suicide isn't illegal...although a failed attempt will put you in a psychiatric ward on a 72-hold.

I wonder what degree of abuse was given to this girl? No one can leave comments on your stuff unless you're their friend, messages can be ignored, so why did this girl decide to top herself? Internet stuff can be avoided, maybe like most parents in this day an age they were disconnected from their child and just left her to her own will. What the woman did was the equivalent of bullying which I agree is bad but there is a certain degree of responsibility on the parents too to ensure the wellbeing of their child.

Plus, if this was to get serious in court and the woman was charged with anything then that'll make smack talk online much less fun. How would you feel if you got a call from the fuzz if l33tkilla69 chucked themselves off a bridge because you tore in to them with verbal insults? XBox live would be a very different place :)

I hate to break the news to you ignorant folks, but tons of people actually do this kind of crap every day. That is a very accurate statement. As much as the situation is terrible, none of you know really know either side of the story, but like always, you judge.

Unfortunately, you cannot truely judge by someones actions, but mainly by intent. If she intended to cause the girl to end her life, then yes she is a very terrible person and should be prosocuted, however if that was not her intent she is only guilty of immature behavior.

Since none of you truly do not know either side of the story then you have not right to judge. If I were operating on any of your logic, if I got angry at a guy for cutting me off and endangered my life in the car. Then pulled up and cursed at him and he consequently decided to end his life, i guess I would be judged the same way you judged her. I would be considered a sick bastard and desrve punity or punative damages. 

Regardless, there can be no true judgement without understanding ultimate intention. While I dont agree what she did is sound, good or appropriate, I would doubt she meant to cause death, but who really knows?

It may not be a crime, but there is tort in the U.S. called "Intentional Infliction of Mental Harm" that the family could sue her for. 

It might not put her in jail but it could punish her financially.

Disgraceful is probably the only way to describe this woman's actions. Drew preyed on the young, impressionable naive youth, for that I hope there is a special place in hell waiting for her.

Legally I don't see how Drew could be prosecuted or lawfully responsible for the girl's death. Verbal harassment charges should be laid at the very least imo.

I'm not well versed enough in U.S criminal law to comment further on how Drew could be prosecuted under such a system. 

At the same time I have to wonder where the parents are in all of this, how their child could be in such a deranged state of mind without their knowing. This poor kid was an easy target, for that I think the parents are as much to blame as Drew.

If this had been done to an adult, that's one thing... Or had it been child on another; cruel, but that happens everyday. Cyber Bullying. But... This is an adult purposefully trying to destroy a child, that is what makes this different, and that is what makes this more a crime then the so called 'millions' guilty of the same.

Whether she goes to jail or not, her life should be destroyed in the same manner that the little girls was, hell i hope people line up to create as many menacing, and ugly web spaces about this woman and what she did so that she cannot show her face anywhere without facing condemnation, ridicule, and verbal abuse.

Those lawyers are thick as two short planks as well, stating that it makes a criminal out of almost everybody that uses the net. The abuse and assuming of another identity is not something I have ever done nor do I know anyone that has done that, they make it sound like you are the odd one out if you don't, but surely its the other way round. I don't personally partake in the myspace, bebo, facebook etc etc BS, can't stand it, but from people I know that do they use it for contacting and sharing stuff with mates, not harassing innocent people.

This lady needs to be thrown in jail for murder, done with myspace, in the bedroom. Cluedo sums it up nicely. No excuse at all.

What she did was not good, but placing blame for suicide on her is pretty strong IMO. Some people are just so weak they can't handle life. Tough crap happens to almost everyone. REAL tough s**t. Some people just can't handle it.

Don't you mean, in a perfect world this would not have occurred? If your "perfect" world is so great, why would two people have died over this nonsense? 

For the girl to have stretched her neck over some stuff online, she couldn't have been terribly stable to begin with. I blame the girl, she's the one who comitted the actual crime. Another case of media/public blaming the wrong party.

I really loathe people like Lori Drew, sick, pathethic weak people who prey on other peoples weaknesses and needs. 

In a perfect world Lori would have got the death penalty.

If this woman would just show a stitch of remorse for what she did... She is an adult, this was a child. What a tool she is. Should she be prosecuted? I don't know. But she is a loser through and through.
