I have to agree with Jimmy, how can you release a phone without Blue tooth support, just to meet a deadline, in today's mobile market and expect it to sell!! 

Almost everyone who uses a mobile/pda device is tech savvy enough to have a number of other peripherals that they connect their phone too via bluetooth. So releasing this type of phone without it is ridiculous, and Google should have missed their deadline and taken a little more time to get this right. 

I think the OS looks good from the preview glimpses i've seen, but it needs to be released and upgraded before I go for it. I think it will take a year before there is a good enough version in terms of stability and feature set.

However, I have to praise Google for entering this market, and for keeping their software opensource. It's great to level out the industry and keep competition thriving. It's the only way for innovation and progression to take place and it's great for us consumers.

Seriously dude, why even bother using bluetooth when the phone has wifi? 

Bluetooth is over rated, a pain to get working, and is slow. I'll take wifi any day.

The 1.0 version of Android and the first devices will include support for Bluetooth; for instance, Android will support Bluetooth headsets. In the early-look SDKs, there was an incomplete draft of an API that exposed Bluetooth functionality to developers. Unfortunately we had to remove that API from the 1.0 release.

People keep making hay because this is open source and comes from Google. No one who buys phones gives a dog gamn about this. The only relevant fact is whether it will have good features and an overall great experience. The Jesus Phone has been extremely popular because it is a good phone, great music player, great PDA, and now the convenience of the app store adds even more value.

I will be amazed if Android makes much of a mark. "Oh, gee, great... Open Sauce so the script satans in russia and china can create all kinds of viruses that now run on a phone..."

Maybe they should focus on finishing some of these projects before jumping into something else... talk about a company with ADHD!

Like the Android concept, but will be waiting for the real OS, not this Beta Version!
