1 in 5, 1 in 10...

As long as one of the pink slipped is named "JERRY YANG" , there will be a modicum of fairness in the firings.

Uh...

^

Maybe someone should mention that a decimation is 1/10 and half would be 1/20...

I'm pretty sure no one's mentioned this yet...

1/20...

slight pedantic comment

Half a decimation would be one in twenty.
1 in 5 would be twice a decimation.

actually

It is twice a decimation.

1/5 = 2/10 which is twice 1/10.

Do math much?

One in five as opposed to one in ten would be twice a decimation, not half.

double decimation

Wouldn't 1-in-5 be twice a decimation rather than half of one?

Twice a decimation, not half.

One in five employees is the same as two in ten employees. That's the same as two decimations conducted at the same time, not half a decimation, as claimed in the article.

decimation

Wouldn't 1 in 5 be 2 times a decimation?

Half a Decimation?

I think you mean twice a decimation, since one in five is twice as many people as one in ten.

Two decimations, not half

One-in-five is TWO decimations, not half a decimation. It's double the number of people who would go with a decimation.

Russel Crowe maths ?

"According to Silicon Alley Insider the figure will be about one in five employees which is about half a decimation."
