They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day

Just had to listen to the song after reading this article
Kodachrome Motion picture film was discontinued two years ago.
Kodak still make Kodachrome Slide film however the Motion Picture Film was discontinued 2 years ago and replaced with Ektachrome motion picture film.

And though my lack of education hasn't hurt me none
Everything looks better in black and white

or shall we sing:

... in zero one.
Now this is a sad story, I always loved shewing slides at my local Astronomical Society, there was something personal, the glow of the light from the top of the projector and the hum of the fan, slides jamming, remounting tatty ones in Gepe mounts...
Sad days in deed ;o(

Truly a sad but expected development.

Cram all the megapixels (gigapixels even) you want into a digital photo and it still can't match the potential of 35mm. For the average gent, digital is "good enough".

Alas, I've been strictly digital for almost a decade (unless you count the Polaroid Instant), but the truth still hurts.
Really it's not a surprise. Fuji's been beating Kodak up and taking their lunch money for years. And the really good forms of Kodachrome are already gone leaving only the blander, grainier 64ISO version.
Imagine my surprise to find this on the INQ this morning. I work there. :)

It's a shame, really. Kodachrome makes for a really good image and it lasts virtually forever under the right storage conditions.
