Itaniums

I think the IA and x86 in that quote must be mixed up. As it is now, it sounds like he wants to displace the Itanium in mainframes and install it in phones.

Stop the presses! Intel finally admits all!

C'mon, Martin - how could you let "I also want to take x86 architecture to the pinnacles of the datacentre because 50 per cent of that market is still on the mainframe" go without comment?

x86, not IA64 (a.k.a. Itanic).

What Question?

What Question did Mike ask Pat Gelsinger over and over? And what is Pat Gelsinger reply?

Good Lord!

i was expecting some "opps sorry about that" type incident. Well giggle me senseless and call me josuha. I look forward to Pat "Vicious like a Pitbull" style descriptions, much like Steve "Quiet and retiring" Bullmar.

Kicking Pat

So this is the first time Pat Gelsinger kicks me.

I'm at Comdex - must be 1997 or so, and there's only three hacks, one Pat Gelsinger and one PR minder.

He's talking about the Itanium. He shows a slide and said something like, "and as you can see all the PC vendors are supporting the Itanium".

"No they're not," I say. "Gateway isn't on that slide."

He kicks me hard under the table right on the plate that's holding my broken leg together. "You kicked me," I said. He kicks me again. "You kicked me again," I said. "So what about Gateway?" He kicked me again.

And that's how he first got the Kicking Pat name.

He stopped kicking me after I had my heart problem when I was at the Rogister. Now he just generally beats me up whenever he sees me.

Do you think the move was justified?
