At least you can afford one: not the case in Greece
It appears the Apple store in Greece is using 1999 US-Euro exchange rates and prices all iMacs at least 20% more expensive than in the rest of the Euro-Europe.

These are subject to 19% VAT.

where in France you get (the newer models for):
http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/francestore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco=7B72369C&node=home/shop_mac/family/imac

Same in the UK and Germany.

That's why greeks won't have apples. They'd rather have a souvlaki.

Cheers
But it is also obviously about Intel being able to clean up the shop floor by clocking down crippled X9100s to flog off onto the fanbois.

Just call it quality control for the masses (of PC users, that is!)
(Ahem)

Radio Gaga, anybody?
3.06 would be 8400
