All I see among devolpers is anger and maybe a little bit of rage. Apparently, this is NOT what they've all been waiting/hoping for.

Spring Cleaning

you forgot to mention that they overhauled the code massively and optimised a lot of it and removed a lot of defunct extensions and compacted and optimised the librarys a lot too,

as well as the normal additions of the new things lol

Competes with D3D is a bit tenuous isn't it? ;) Looks like we'll have to wait for GL3.1 for the competition we were promised with GL3.0 :(

We've had 32-bit floating point textures & render buffers (GL_RGB32F_ARB) in the standard for a few years now. Yes, I noticed it's taken directly from Khronos website. Ah, those marketing tricks...
