nice...

thats really good news...even for us that use or want to get a nvidia card. Why you say?, cause getting a new main-stream card that actualy performs and at that price will make competition (nvidia) cut prices in their current 8800 series. that havent seen much of a price cut in a quite a while...cause they mainly dont need to, cause there is no real competition. So hopefuly the time to get another 8800 GTS 640mb to get SLI going on is getting closer :)

What about UVD?

Great article,

What about video processing. Will that chip have the latest and greatest video processing features from ATI? (which are unfortunately missing from the R600 and G90).

Thanks,

Francis

Matrox Parhelia got wiped...
This will probably be the first time in history that the part with narrower memory controller (256-bit) will beat wider part (512-bit), at least in some tests.
Remember the Matrox Parhelia 512? It was beaten to death by a Nvidia Geforce4Ti.

DX10 on Vista is gone

The future is going to be DX10 on XP - because nobody wants Vista (well, not enough to make any impact).
Given that XP performs admirably well on machines that are not half as powerful as what is needed for a Vista machine, I'll wager that DX10 on XP will be quite well handled by low-end last-gen cards that don't have a snowball's chance in Hell on a Vista machine.
Not controlling every bit for copyright violation makes a serious difference when what YOU want is maximum performance. Unfortunately, Vista checks that whether you want it or not.

Pascal.

Anti-Aliasing Issue

Will the anti-aliasing issue be fixed with the RV670?

I've read around that the reason for the poor performance on the R600 is due to the fact of unused ROPs and/or the preference to use shader anti-aliasing which no current game (maybe STALKER) uses at this time.

Will it be fixed? If so, I'm going to wait until the RV670 or R700.

nope not the first 7600GTs beat 7800GSes in almost all tests (128 bit vs. 256 bit for latter)

A firmer date

AMD to Launch RV670 on November 19

Some preliminary product details @ DigiTimes, for the interested.

(Damn. I'm hoping to build a system before then.)
