Yeah, go out and by a book on Oracle OCCI (not OCI), or how about getting a book for me on otl (Oracle, Odbc and DB2-CLI Template Library). I know, maybe I could use a book with all the latest info on the upcoming C++0X, what I need to do to make sure my current code will be compatible, and what exciting features I can take advantage of now.

Lets be fair. She's in media, and seems to have taken a social/political stance. Get me some "printed academic material" that contains a video (primary source) from Osama Bin Laden, or some academic sources that have the recent Golden Globe winners.

In reality, there are plenty of inaccurate textbooks, spouting off wrong information, with no one questioning them, and Wikipedia is an amazing research tool because you can quickly get somewhat accurate information and they usually come with a boatload of primary sources. After getting a better education through Google, I for one am appalled at all the important information they got wrong, misrepresented, or just left out of my text books.

She's criticizing the internet, and providing her students with tertiary resources (peer reviewed text is a secondary source and they're just extracts, which makes them once more removed). Someone should smack her with her 7 degrees! I would, but I'm too busy trying to learn everything in the world (and using Wikipedia and Google spell check to track down the word tertiary).
Helpful hint for people that don't quite get it:

Old people are always scared of new stuff.

But I have to say googles monopoly and involvement in censorship and "information management" around the world is scary...

To the comment about the founding fathers and income taxes...
There is no law that says you have to pay income tax in America. It's actually unconstitutional...a tax to feed the reserve bankers... this would make every founding father cry...
The first library book I ever got in what I would call the poltical commentary section was by Rush Limbaugh, so the policy definitely isn't a total solution.

I'd be happy if people could discriminate between a democracy and a constitutional republic. The general consensus seems to be,"Who gives a f***?" Or how about some history books that note that the Founding Fathers "religious freedom" problems had a lot to do with taxes. How many Founding Fathers do you think would be happy to hear about the Income Tax?
This is far from new and exciting?

Perhaps if you had attended college you would have written a few less mistakes and experienced this first hand 4 years ago...

All in good fun
This woman sounds as stupid as she is old. Does she know what a search engine is?

“Google is filling, but it does not necessarily offer nutritional content,” she said.

If so, the same could be said about any search engine.

Plus anyone who refferences wickipedia probally deserves to fail their assignment.

It sounds like she just wants a rant!
