Why do they Advertise?

If Nintendo doesn't expect advertising to have much effect on sales of the Wii because everyone already knows about it, then why spend heaps to advertise?

Why not donate the money to children's charities instead, for example. Think of the free press coverage, it could increase sales. :)

Well i sold mine just after...

1 year today. Personally i only sold it cause i actually made more money than i paid for it 1 year ago! Simple as that. In that 1 year its been amazing, although be it Wii Sports being the big hitter! The classic games for download is an amazing idea and i spent alot of money there. I got mine chipped (tut tut i know) with the WiiKey and played most of the games available and only ended up with 5 originals over the year that were worth any money imo. And sports and Play come free basically! Metroid Prime, SMG, Monkey Ball only others i played really.

The thing is with the wii though, and mine was kitted out with 4 pads, 4 nunchucks and 4 classic pads, If you have a life, and got friends and family its an instant winner. You may not play it all the time on your own but its simple great fun with mates. All these claiming about graphic and what not, They just got no mates (bar online) and have no one to play with. M$ & Sony have been bermused by its success when simply its facing then head on!

IT'S FUN & DOESN'T TAKE ITSELF SERIOUS!!!

Congratualations to nintendo on this one cause i had a GC and it was an excellent console with lack of support and everyone thought they were dead after!!! Well, Stick that christmas pie in your hole and eat. Its the sweet taste of humble pie :)

I will be buying one again, A black one once there released but until then i'll sit on the money i made (- the projector i brought with the profits!)! And if you were wondering, it ended up going for £780!!! Over Twice the asking price and this is one year later!!! I wouldn't be suprised if there sold out next crimbo!!!

Crazy...

You'd think that they'd be able to satisfy demand by the second year...

I stood in line and got mine yesterday. Store had 26 to sell and held a lottery...

I managed...

...to expidite one from Argos online on Friday, it's due for delivery this coming Saturday...but they're certainly not easy to get and, no Nintendo should not be advertising the Wii, games maybe, but not the console...having said that even the games are in short supply.

There will be many disappointed kids this Xmas I'm sure. One interesting thing though is that eBay is full of them, but they're not shifting that well really. There's plenty of "Buy It Now" stuff to be had that's just sitting there and sitting there.
