I'll keep this short. You said:

Bandwidth should have been marked much simpler, e.g. double bandwidth of PCIe 1.1 (Gen1) x16 should have been marked as PCIe x32 instead of PCIe Gen2 x16 - but hey, this industry lives to confuse people."

This might help you understand a bit about PCIe http://computer.howstuffworks.com/pci-express1.htm and just so you don't get more confused I don't think x12 is real but there probably wasn't enough space to fit x16 on the picture.
