not that expensive here

3870's are sold out almost everywhere in the US (retailer websites), and the price is between $215 (Best Buy, sold out) and $260. The 8800's seem to be more expensive, but don't quote me on that.

ATI is fubar'd!

Yeah the 8800GT does kick the 3870 hard for only 10% higher cost.

3870 512MB - £160
8800GT 512MB - £175

According the review I read on www.tomshardware.co.uk the 8800GT is a better performer in almost all games they tried.

In terms of power and noise, it looks like there is little difference in power but ATI are using a noisier fan. It just gets worse doesn't it.

Now if NVidia can get some 8800GT cards to the shops then I might be able to buy one!

8800GT won already

It doesn't matter what AMD does since prices around 200 euros won't be competitive enough against 8800 GT. I don't know what others are thinking but seeing from the reviews Nvidia kicks ATI's butt quite hard so 8800GT is clearly the winner of this fight.

to az:

Yea, az, you're right... Too bad you can't get a single 8800GT! Let alone two of them. With 3870 it's a different issue. So, performance isn't always everything!

8800 GTS are available

Newegg has just sold out on the HD3870s thought I got one at NCIXUS.
I just saw the 8800GT's are now available on Best Buy and CompUSA...
