Just gonna make a guess.

But it would be sensible to replace the notebook track pad, with a removeable iPhone or iPod touch. To create the uber docking station lol (the docking station is the notebook).

Like a vista touch sensitive vista sideshow on steroids.

The market for UMPC's or sub notebooks is not for the All in One crowd who want the latest Crysis AND portability. - That group is served by a MBP or a Tosh, not perfectly, but it is served.

Apple's new slimline will be perfect for students and people who are in business, or those people who purchase a laptop as a fashion accessory.

It will run Vista or Leopard without issue and none of these people care about frame rates. One thing you should remember though is that the resolution of this new lappy is probably going to be 12 x 9. So the IGS will be a better fit than on a 14 x 9 resolution display.

I will say that if Apple can get a GeForce 8600M into this new laptop it'll be killer, but I doubt that will happen. As it is, I don't see them putting in anything higher than a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo in there.

Perhaps Apple has some 45nm chips to stick inside?

In any event, if the MBP doesn't meet your power user req', you definitely not going to be interested in the ultra portable.

Personally, I can't use a screen with anything smaller than a Macbook and even then it is a bit uncomfortable.

BUT, If they could make the display show up as a HUD on my bluetooth contact lenses... hmm?
All hail the mighty Steve Jobs. Bow down in awe at the great and powerful marketing machine.
hehe
It would be an improvement. I just had to replace my mechanical HD in my 12" Powerbook (did it myself). It lasted about 3 years.
The price is what has me scared. Will be interesting.
Have a great day and hi Nick.
Now you can get ultra flast and stabel "harddisk" on a ultra portable laptop. Although it cost many buck, it still possible to buy some. Unfortunatelly, you can't say the same on VGA. At best the can get Geforce X500 or Radeon X400 (x = the generation number), but lastly it will fill with intel onboard. Even if you have billion dollars in a buget, you can't still get a decent VGA in ultra portable HDD.
And this condition will make no ultra portable laptop can get Windows Experience Index 4.
Just gonna make a guess.
