I am in no way serious. I realize the complexity of the situation in palestine/isreal. However personally when given the choice between supporting a semi-free open democracy with a free press or supporting a backwards despotic regime attempting to perpetuate a system that rewards dissent with murder. I will choose the democracy every time, but hey thats just me. Lets say I'm a hopeless optimist.

The land belongs to Israel. Israelis have gone out of their way to live in peace, but radicals among the Arabs have prevented that since the early '20's. If aliens arrived and shoved Arabs out of the Arabian penninsula and took Mecca as an alien holy site, then Arabs would pine for as long as it took for history to allow them to return. Jews have returned. Our cousins, the Arabs, should live in peace alongside Israelis. I'm tired of radicals attacking Israel after Israel left Arab majority territory that wasn't part of ancient Israel (i.e. Gaza) but no way should Israel give up rights to Jerusalem and ancient Jewish territory. The Babylonians are gone. The Romans are gone. Someday Hamas will be gone too. Then, God willing, everyone can live in peace.

Should put all the freaky religious people, all kinds of voodoo, islamic, christian, jewish and all the others, in one remote place and let them kill each other. 

Normal people can carry on in peace then :)

In response to that comment above, guy doesn't know what he's talking about, or intentionally omitting quite a bit of history.

Palestinian lands were not stolen; from the 19th century zionist colonists emigrated from Russia and Europe into Palestine; they bought the land while it was cheap (they were sold it by the landowners because it was poor for farming.) 

Over half a century the communal settlements built irrigation system, and emigration from Russia pre-WWI resulted in more Jews coming over. 

The land wasn't cheap anymore, and sicne after WWI, many landowners wanted back the land that they sold and so the Mufti of Jeruselem and others incited good old fashioned pogromsamong the arab popualtiom, which had lived rather peacefully with the jews for some time.

The mufti also protested Jewish immigration into Palestine as so many people had settled by that time that the arabs were a minority in some parts of modern israel, and many resented this fact.

After WWII, the earlier British resolution to allow Israel to exist was passed; even Russia supported it despite widespread anti-semitism apearing under Stalin (who later decided that he would send off all the Jews to siberia, and died a week or two later.)

But britain passed the resolution knowing that the Jordan and Egyptian armed forces would take over, who did indeed attack. They lost and the two resistance groups in Israel decided to take land at the borders to prevent invasion; they afterwards offered Palistinians who supported the attack to return by they feared reprisal. They refused to live in Israel and return so long as its under Israeli government they decided, because Israel is jewish, not muslim; thats the real reason. 

In the six day war, Egypt wanted to have another go and so Israel did an strike at the opposing force which was getting ready to go over the border in certain areas. Israel claimed these areas afterwards.

These last claims are controversial (inside Israel) because much property in these areas was garrisoned and has yet to be returned; all previous aquisitions are rather proper.

You cannot make statments so broad that they are incorrect, unless that is your intention, or your patriotism goes to your head. 

In fact, I have relatives who have lived in Israel prior to WWI.

The land is Jewish land, that was stolen by various factions, the most powerful of which were the Romans, they are the ones who named the area Palestine, which consisted of Israel and much of it's modern Arab neighbours. At that time there was no Islam or even Christianity. At one point in history you had Palestinians of Jewish, Christian, and Islamic descent. Get your history and land claim rights correct. ALL of the land in Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, Golan, Sinai, much of Lebanon, Syrian, Jordan, even into Iraq was Jewish territory LONG before Islam even existed. All the Jews want in terms of land is what is today Israel proper including a united Jerusalem, THE Holy City for the Jews, not just the 3rd holiest city. Under Jewish control Jerusalem would be open to all religious including Islam, it already is an open and shared city.

The Israeli government don't really want to fight the people who bomb its cities.
What happens is that the Palestinians do what no one should - they shoot rockets into Israeli cities like Sderot in order to kill citizens.
They aim at citizens!

The state of Israel can shoot back and end it real fast but it won't because it thinks its not moral.
So what it does is occasionally get in and fight the rocket launchers, but when it does so the Palestinian troopers shoot at them an fight them.
Because they are much weaker they don't fight the army on the field but they take the war to the streets by placing booby traps on the streets and shooting from houses.

That is the only reason innocent Palestinian women and children die.
Stop fighting and really try to settle things with Israel instead of killing people from both sides.

The land of Israel has been settled by the Hebrews thousands of years ago. Over the years the Romans, the Greek, the ottomans and the British ocuppied this territory and most of the Jewish people got scattered around the World.

But still there were hundreds of thousands left in Israel.
When the last ocuppiers - the British ruled the land it wasn't a country (not for Arabs nor for Jewish).
Then the Jewish people (that lived here) got a mandate from the British to start their state in the land of Israel (the British offered a state for Jewish and another for the Arabs) while living alongside with the Arabs who also lived here (they were fewer).

On the same day Israel was founded and declared by the UN (1948), the Arabs with the help from: Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan and Syria attacked the new state and aimed to annihilate it.
What happened was that the Israelis won the war and as they faught for their lives they also managed to take some of the Arab lands. At the same time, some of the Arabs left their terittory because of the war.

What is the price for trying to annihilate a newly born country? should it just give up these lands that thousands of its citizens died on?

On the contrary - The Arabs are hypocrite. No Arab country wants the Palestinians. The ones who did take them were forced to do so.

Everybody likes to blame Israel for the poor Palsetinians but the fact is that when they weren't fighting Israel they lived much better than most of the Arabs in the world which most of their contries are still not democratic.

Try not to justify your occupation of another land. There is absolutely no excuse in marching into another country claiming it is your own. 
The land from the borders of Algeria to the borders of China used to belong to Persia, way before Islam. Should we take it all back and call it Iran, because it "used" to belong to us some thousands of years ago? 
Palestinians have every right to defend their land, and they are not terrorists, as much as Jews are not terrorists.
There is no such a thing as an Arab world in my opinion. Middle east is vastly heterogeneous. Different people, different races, different cultures and religions. But the only thing middle east has in common is the hatred against Israel. It is UN's job to bring peace and security to the world, they have done the very opposite with Israel, which has led to decades of war and bloodshed.

I don't think you can call either side 'right' in their aggressive actions. No one has the right to take innocent lives.

However, Israel is by far the one with the most dis-proportionate response and aggressive actions against the Palestinians. I think they have gone too far in their illegal occupation for there to be a realistic peace without major major concessions on their part.

Also, the complicity of the U.S. in using its veto again and again in the face of overwhelming international condemnation in the U.N., as well as Britain's capitulating to Uncle Sam in supporting the Israeli government through billions of dollars in aid, propaganda, military agreements etc speaks volumes as to why the situation in the Middle East is unchanged for so many years.

Even looking at the comments posted here, most are polarised on one side or the other, while others do not care at all. None are about how to realistically achieve a lasting peace. Is this an indication of the real-world and that we will never have peace in the Middle-East, no matter how many fake 'road-maps' we see?
