This is great news. I have a Gainward Nvidia card now & altho its a bit long in the tooth, it kicked ass wen I gt it, by far the best card available. It convinced me to stick with them, bt I want a 4800 card. In response to Peanut, in a way, & yes the reference cards will be boring, but Gainward have the autonomy to tinker with cards in a way that their parent/sister companies dont bother so Gainward goin ATI too is definately news.
Uh, Gainward, Palit and Expertvision have all been the one and the same company (bar fan stickers and box art) since at least 2006, and both expertvision and Palit have been chruning out plenty of ATi cards alongside nvidia ones, so, what exactly is new or exclusive again?!?
it would be GDDR5 not DDR5...

the boxes says 4850 and DDR3, but the 4850 card says DDR5 on it.. oh well.. bay it's the Super GoldenSample Mega ++ edition.. :)
The second box is for 4870 and so DDR5 works, the other one is DD3 and 4850.
