What I don't understand is why they needed to buy the name from the hotel chain. For one "intel" is an actual English word; it was neither contrived or coined. Secondly, the trademark was not even applying to the same category of goods/services, so there would have been no confusion in the marketplace. I think they paid for the rights because of their fear of lawyers.
