Hi,

When I was working for PLDS (Philips Lite-on data storage) I filled a patent so that the optical drives in the laptops could be used to detected motion instead of motion detectors. At the same time a patent was also filed to detect earthquakes using the techniques described in the article.

Shurely some mistake? The omnipresent "boffin" only appears way later in the text and only once.

This article really is about seismologoffins, isn't it?
