You could be forgiven for thinking that I've emailed operating systems to people!

I have three Gmail address (at the time of writing giving me about 21GB total online free storage) - one is my primary, one collects spam and automatic newsletters for websites and the third I use with the Firefox Gspace add-on (using Gspace puts the structure ("GFS") of your Gmail account space at risk - so I keep an account for it alone).

What would be nice is if Google could allow me to login to all three using the same tabbed browser (Firefox, Opera, IE, etc.) rather than needing to have instances of (any three of) Firefox, Opera, IE and Netscape running just to access the three separate accounts.

P.S. I should say that I am not certain it's Google needing to isolate the accounts AND/OR the browser coders that can't keep check of what's in cache.
You can find out what google is planing by reading the source code for the gmail log in page. You find the following table:
var CP = [
[ 1175414400000, 2835 ],
[ 1192176000000, 2912 ],
[ 1193122800000, 4321 ],
[ 1199433600000, 6283 ],
[ 2147328000000, 43008 ],
[ 46893711600000, Number.MAX_VALUE ]
];
Where times are ther usual mS from midnight newyearsday 1970. So it translates into:

Sun, 1 Apr 2007 08:00:00 UTC = 2835MB
Fri, 12 Oct 2007 08:00:00 UTC = 2912MB
Tue, 23 Oct 2007 07:00:00 UTC = 4321 MB
Fri, 4 Jan 2008 08:00:00 UTC = 6283 MB
Sun, 17 Jan 2038 08:00:00 UTC = 43008 MB
Wed, 2 Jan 3456 07:00:00 UTC = Number.MAX_VALUE

Note, Don't trust the last two, they wil probably be changed before the new year. The second last is the largest possible date stored on 32bit UNIX and the last one is the largest possible date stored on a 64bit UNIX.
i think by the time most of us get to have 4GB of email in our inbox, well have 400gb email storage. now if i could just get hotmail to work properly on my cellphone.....
If you don't know what to do with the 4 gigs of storage, try using GSpace. It's a great plugin that lets you drag and drop files from your PC to your Gmail space through file attachments. Set up a rule to archive them all to a Gspace label, and you can start storing files easily.
I use hotmail, a university and a work email address daily.

I do have a gmail adress, but I have to say that gmail has the worst UI and cluckyest piece of garbage email solution i have ever used. Its ridiculus. Take your 4GB and shove it.

Live Hotmail is slick and has has 5GB for ages, plus with skydrive an extra 1 GB at the moment.
"You are currently using 44 MB (1%) of your 4148 MB." What to do with so much space?? I have only 1%, I guess all users have that much by now. It's just advertising against M$ and Yahoo, so what. They gave you more space to snoop more , hahaha ...
They upped the speed of their counter the other week, should be 5 gig fairly soon.

You are currently using 319 MB (7%) of your 4198 MB.

This is not a paid account so I guess it must be for free accounts also.

MSN might be more popular if they got a bit better at filtering junk email.
Noticed this over the weekend, great and all, just wish i could use it. I have used 177Mb in my account with 10-20 mails a day for the last couple of years
why should I count some gigabytes when I can have unlimited space at Yahoo?

for slower people - unlimited is more than, 4GB or 40GB or 400GB as is giving you funny Google and everybody is excited about it, woow, google give me 3, 4 or 6GB, that's really a lot of space against UNLIMITED at yahoo
I have read a news that Gmail will be 6 GB by January 2008. Just like "I am feeling luck" button that has been Google Trademark, increasing email by counter has been Google trademark too. That's why Google won't directly goes for 6 GB.
Yep I'm up to 4098 MB = 4.0 GB

but Hotmail still has 5GB and It can be used with a mail client (and I refuse to use POP), so will use hotmail until google bring out a mail client or allow IMAP.
is this working? my last post disappeared!

Anyways, long time loyalists are rewarded, it appears, with more!

Never got to filling up my 10mb in yahoo, back in the old days! Theres uploading services for that!

So 4gb is like unlimited! Almost!
Gmail is a better product. Fast, simple, straightforward, useful. Unlike Yahoo and M$, it catches 99.9% of my spam and has discreet advertisements. I can see and edit attachments in "Google Office". Well I can go on and on.
Gmail is certainly superior to yahoo.

1) While Yahoo gives unlimited storage, its UserInterface is still marauded with flashing advertisements.

2) The interface at Yahoo is slower to load.

3) The download speeds offered are smaller (for example 150 kbps from a T1 connection on Yahoo compared with 600-800 Kbps from gmail).

4) Gmail allows 20MB attachments compared to Yahoo's 10 MB.

5) Gmail's storage can be used as a virtual drive with some Firefox plugins. Yahoo has no such feature.

6) Attaching a file and sending an email is faster in gmail (due to stay-on-same page and do-everything interface).
Google knows what is within each and every one of the letters in your Gmail inbox. Just look at the sponsor links on the right hand side of the letters you read.

So, Google knows about you. Google wants you to click on these links. This means money for Google.

But, this is also is a lot of data mining for what is supposedly a secure e-mail service. And, while it certainly takes time to fill up 4 GB (or whatever it will be), it means only more and more data mining for Google, and, in turn, more money for Google.

Increasing the storage size just means more money for Google.

Not exactly a fan of this sort of data mining, but that's how they make their money.
Think again, Google paid services is 25Gb. You can pass it on to your grandchild and he/she will still not have to delete old emails...

Windows live hotmail already provides 5 gb of space. then how come google is outpacing microsoft !!!
Microsoft's live mail has been providing 5GB of storgae for some time now.
FYI. Chalk it up on the board ;)

Yahoo told me some time back that I had unlimited email storage on my free account. That seems like more than 4Gb.
I have this kind of message
"You are currently using 49 MB (1%) of your 4126 MB".
why should I count some gigabytes when I can have unlimited space at Yahoo?

How can it be better than others are offering if yahoo offers UNLIMITED space & hotmail offers 5GB?
'You are currently using 10 MB (0%) of your 4146 MB.'

Phew, thank God I've got 4GB now eh
I've got 4208mb....

I'm up to 4216 MB. Sounds like Google are challenging people to use as much as they provide!!
my free yahoo account has unlimited storage, has done for quite some time now.
I got 4171 MB right now...depending on how you calculate GB, that's either 4.073 GB or 4.171 GB.
