GeForce 1.08x10^4

If all goes well, nVidia will move to scientific notation for their GeForce numbering scheme. They could also drop the name and all it something else completely (kind of like Intel dropping the "Pentium" name on all its chips) and calling it the OhForce or something.

Of course, this will never happen because nVidia has too much brand recognition with GeForce. They also can't make it X800, etc because ATi beat them to the punch.

Sadly it looks as though everyone will have the most interest in what happens to the model number formating, rather than the card's actual performance.

Stop with the numbers

Hopefully they will stop the numbers game. It got old about 5 years ago.

All well and good, but after the 9800 whatevers (GT, GTS, GTX, GT Pro?), what is the next number?

or
10800 GTX, GTS, GT

Im quite puzzled by this...
