My 2 cents

A logging feature would be a nice addition to the MyKey. Just for the periodical checks on average speed the driver is traveling & how long the seat belts are not fastened. Just my 2 cents

avoiding danger

While the average car driver may not realize it, sometimes the best thing to do in an emergency situation isn't slamming on the brakes as hard as you can, but rather speeding up to avoid the danger. My city is surrounded by highways with a speed limit of 75mph. What happens if a teen with actual driving skills tries to speed out of a dangerous situation and the car doesn't respond? Probably death. This 'feature' only reinforces the poor driving habit of hitting the brakes in every emergency.

More features

It is just a small step from parental control to parent control. Nice society.

as discussed on slashdot

how long before insurance companies increase their premiums if you DON'T have a speed limiter installed, along with all this other rubbish.
if you don't trust your kids with a motor, don't give them the keys.
easy peasy. but then hey, this is perfect for the nanny state. along with black box gps enabled journey recorders for "auto toll", and "manufacturer improvement programs".
if this is the way things are going, the market for older cars is going to bloom because of all the crap no-one wants that comes with new ones. not to mention no road tax on cars older than 25 years.
