Yep, it's NOT a fake ... it's the bona fide RTM release, downloaded and installed it myself from da TechNety

The reason it reads as being SP1 on the screen shot is because the code base for Windows Server 2008 "IS" Vista SP1

It will say the exact same thing on all official versions, being knocked out on the 27th
Server 2008 comes with SP1 installed.. thats old news. MS figured that then the public wont have to wait for that first SP everyone wants before they install it. Pretty intelligent if you ask MS..
Yep, screen shot is accurate ... see -

Well done INQ!

Looks like after you broke this the whole world and its best friend jumped on the story too - nice!
Wao the trial has been extended to 60 days, not the usual Windows Trial 30 days. If it does, with normal 3x grace period, intead of 120 days, we get 240 day, or 8 months.

Does it realy-realy RTM?
Doesn't seem much like a leak.

People with a (fairly cheap) MS Technet subscription have had download access to the 2008 since Monday.

Or, to put it another way, "Hey guys, there's a pirate version of Windows Server, the pirates are really great, and here's how to get it..."

C'mon now, I'm no more of a fan of MS than anyone at the Inq (Andrew Thomas, put your hand _down_!), but this isn't a good spin.
... you fail to mention that the release it's useless as it isn't cracked nor does it come with a valid key. all you can do with it is to watch the 60 day timer count down to 0 and ask you to activate. think of it as a "demo" version.

we can count on our trusted tabloids for dealing with this sort of Vole leakage!
If by "leaks" you mean "was released to MSDN and Technet subscribers through Microsoft's download service"...
According to the screen shot, Microsoft have gone straight to SP1!

According to that screenshot it has Servie Pack 1 installed?

I think thats a Vista machine screenshot and not Server 2008.
