Re: Foolish Consumers

Let's all be serious here for a minute, you expect that a 'play-it-safe' company like Nintendo who just doesn't want to loose money will increase production to a level they can't sustain?

It's good business to increase production, wait let it settle and then if the demand is up, increase a bit more and thats what they have been doing. Production Capacity is expensive and difficult to dump when demand drops.

Regarding Mario Kart...look at Japan's numbers over the last 2 months, Nintendo is clearly shifting units to the US to meet demand for the Brawl, Wii fit and Mario Kart Trio.

Finally people are rushing to get them when they can because supply is short, but they wanted one before they rushed. I.e. They aren't being tricked into wanting them but encouraged to seek them out.

It is all about $$$ rate right now

With $ rate falling to all time low... it just bring more profit to sell in Europe and Asia sometimes with 50% premium so US is no longer a priority marked for Gadget and Car producers and most of them shifted the gears away of it this include Dell, Apple, Acer, Toshiba, BMW, Daimler Chrysler and related brands, Nissan, Audi...

so get used to it....

Wii - video noise problem

Everyone talks about the Red Ring of Death with the XBox360. But the Wii has a systematic flaw too.

We had some video noise on our Wii. The video noise is a pattern of scratch-like vertical lines on the video. It was confirmed in several ways to be originating from the Wii. We sent it back and they sent us a new unit (bery nice).

But the replacement unit has the same issue. I looked into it further and found plenty of complaints about this problem on the web. There are plenty of screen captures on various forums.

Some people speculate that it is caused by the GPU overheating and becoming damaged (permanently).

We'll be sending our 2nd Wii back for replacement soon.

Please publish this so that Nintendo can be motivated to address the issue properly.

Foolish Consumers.

Seems Nintendo can make Wii's when it chooses to.

MarioKart arrives, so does a big truckload of Wii's

They are fooling people by carefully throttling supplies (just enough to sell, never too many that there are some on shelves), this gives the impression of desirability, and drives sales further.

You would have to be an idiot to fall for this trick.. Oh wait, millions of consumers already have.

Try GAME

They should try and import GAME over here in the UK when I traded in my 360 for a PS3 there was 7 people in line trading in there Wii's.

I had to ask why they was trading them in and they all mainly came to the same conclusion. There's no good games for it and after the hype it just sat there on the shelf. They would be playing on PC, 360 or PS3 more than the Wii.

So import from the Uk I am sure there's a few on Ebay right now. But it's typical that there running low because of 1 hyped game Mario Kart it won't be long till people get bored of that.

availability.

I got the misus one in september last year. Walked into game and there were loads there. I thought the whole supply thing had been sorted.

I never imagined that there would be ebay premiums to pay again last xmas, as there was a shortage.

Fair play to them though, they are playing the supply and demand game perfectly. They even did it with mario kart. But again, finding one of those big shops on a smaller trading estate and they have loads!
