One should wonder if a particular country might be doing this deliberately. Might be easier to place a tap somewhere on the line after it is broken somewhere else.

If it is about fiber taps, just where would you have the compute horsepower to filter through the bit mass? How would you get it there?

I hope it isn't a military operation. That would be such a massive waste of money.

In Dubai...

...as of right now the internet is fine and dandy. No slower than Bahrain was a month ago. The Burj Dubai is still going up up up, hot damn it's tall.
