fixed

I was able to fix my macbook with the procedure here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1245111&tstart=30

To get at Terminal and Disk Utility go to 'Utilities' on the installer menubar.

I wonder why apple kept the update live after so many problems?
