Well, the UK ripoff price differential is enough to make it worthwhile getting large items imported. Example: a laptop battery that was £98 (exc. postage) in the UK, got it for about ~£60 (inc.!) from the US, of which ~£15 was international shipping. It's crazy. But I see no point in funding the rip off merchants.

Graphics cards of this sort of price will come into the "larger purchases" category where the shipping cost is overcome.

Using currency converter $260 = £125. That is a big difference from the £175 quoted in UK shops. £50 difference.

I see the usual price inflation has started. I'd be surprised if you can get a 8800gt in the UK for the US equivalent. Remember we have to put up with Rip-Off Britain.

$260 at Newegg, £176 at OcUK, there's nothing different here, nothing at all.

The price of the 8800 GTX in North America was very close to $700, and was selling for much more than that for a long time. The GTX STILL costs $499 or more on Newegg.com. That's after the massive price drop when the Ultra was released.

The price of the GTX when it came out in the USA was not $500, it was in fact $649! So if it was $700 in the UK its not a big deal. On the other hand, we in india had to pay around $900 so quit whining

Maybe they lowered the price, just because nVidia is getting ready to launch their GeForce 9 series, and that's why they are lowering the prices slowly for the launch next month.
