Oh my word

I despair, I really do. Are people really not able work out that Jimbo was making a joke about the Nvidia and Intel sponsorship? Dumbasses.

Interesting how all the 64 bit and quad core hype turned out to be complete lies

imo, not true

I just played the demo on my quad, running cpu meter showing all cores utilization on my Q6600.

Two cores were doing just fine, 90% and 70% utilisation. The other two were basically doing nothing.

I don't think there's any bonus there for quad owners over dual.

Don't fund...?

Guys, BOTH nVidia and Intel are up to their eyesockets in Crysis...

...and frankly this sponsoring is partially the incentive for companies to still craft games for PC, and one of the main reasons the market is still alive and kicking; w4r3z0rz afterall need hardware to run their stolen games.

The enthusiast market may be small in comparisons to you average WallMart dwelling X360 crowd, but very lucrative....

Here's some selling points from our sponsors, ladies and gents...

Yes, my Q6600 @3.6 GHz does kick ass in the demo, thank u very much :D

Not what the benchmarks say!

Judging from benchmarks such as this one http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3882&Itemid=1
this is all marketing bull.

But they do!

They do fund games like UT3 with the TWIMTBP program and Intel logos all over the place. Fire up the demo and watch the branding at work.

dissapointed in crsisi

I d/l crysis and i must say im a bit disapointed, I have a good rig, 8800GTS 640mb, amd 2.6ghz dual core 1mb cache's so its a good model, 2 gig of LL corsair ram, I still couldnt run it on medium at decent framrates,
its gana cost too much to get a decent rig to play it, Im not sure if the game will do so well to be honest, even with my DX10 card it was hard pressed getting 40fps so imagine lower speced DX9 cards, it will be impossible for them to play at all

Not so sure...

Maybe the final release will be different, but my 3.2ghz quad-core didn't seem to be helping me out that much in the demo. I've seen it reported elsewhere that CPU utilization was fairly low. But comparing to other people who have 8800GTXs, I seemed to be getting about the same performance.

They do

Actually, nvidia at least does...

No worry

While I am sure a quad core and all that extra ram will improve performance, it would be suicide to make such specs mandatory in a gaming market were DX10 Crysis ready rigs are the minority.

Anyone with a decent dual core and 2GB ram shouldn't be worried about being able to play the game at enjoyable settings.

They do...

At least, nVidia do. Never heard of TWIMTBP?!

Or do they?

I don't know if intel doesn't fund games in a way.
I noticed intel is on board in the whole in-game ads thing and buys ads for that, so what's the word on that in crysis I wonder?
They never tell you in advance if a game has in-game ads you know.

a Bayt for Intel and nVidia

Intel dont fund but now it could start. Its like you dont call me your friend but i call u my friend so one day u become my implicit friend (from explicit friend).

Intel/nVidia support

Big games like Crysis and World in Conflict get lots of help in terms of technical backup and expertise. As for how that's paid for I don't know.

I'm happy I spent the little extra and got a Q6600 over an E6600 now :)

Re: hmmmm

Um actually they do? Most games nowadays I see have the Nvidia and Intel logos, i.e. they've been sponsored/partly funded by Intel and Nvidia. Some games have ATI and or AMD. Crysis in particular lists Intel and Nvidia as affliates i.e. they did sponsor Crysis http://www.ea.com/crysis/home.jsp

it should be the other way round seeing how demanding this game will be

They do...

Look again Jimbo. Both NVIDIA and Intel have large well organized game developer relation teams as well as Co-Marketing programs.

In fact, Crysis is part of NVIDIA's TWIMTBP program, and they are hosting the Crysis Demo. Check it out at: http://www.nzone.com/page/home.html.

I'm surprised intel & nvidia don't fund games like crysis.

old news but still love the Inq

I saw the video clip of the whole discussion about the quad core being king on crysis about...ummm.. 6 months ago or so I think.

Was the driving force in my desire to drop a grand on a nice quad chip. But then reality smacked me in the head (or was it the missus when she heard the plan lol). Now decided to go dual core and then for the next upgrade I can just drop a quad chip onto the same MB for instant upgrade.

Plus I can use the extra $ for beer (thwack..ouch luv)... I mean something nice for my girl.

Or maybe the 'shipping costs' on that hot little mail order bride from Odessa ;-)

go back to work yerli

Maybe Yerli should go and do some work on crysis rather than showing how much of a lapdog he is for intel.

They do

They actually do give quite a bit of money to companies like Crytek, as well as thousands of man-hours with help getting it running tip top on their hardware.
