I read the Inquirer less because it's gotten to incoherent. Sometimes articles are so full of acronyms that I feel stupid not being able to decipher what's being said. Some articles lack foundation, starting the tale in the middle. Others, like this one leave out essential facts like what the award represents as well as the organization as pointed out earlier. Then there are the misleading titles as well as twisting of the real story for sensation. And then there is the boring factor, the articles don't seem to cover hardware inovations as much, a lot of consumer gripes and such now. Maybe I'm cranky, from lack of coffee, haven't had a cup since this rag went online...

Nick does a fine job, I think. All he does is write brief comments of the dozens of stories that hit the wires every day.

And the fact that he takes the great care to give attibution to the original news source and he LINKS TO IT is because he wants to give you an opportunity to read the orginal, usually more lengthy story IF YOU WANT TO.

I think comments #1 and #2 are undeserved.


And let us not forget to mention Alpha Centauri, one of his crowning achievements.

How can you complain about someone taking a slightly negative stance, then call for the guy to be sacked, and think that you are being fair?

I re-read the article, it seems like he was poking the awarders, not the awardee.

And I thought the tone was the usual Inq tone, a bit of a dig but informative.

Maybe the whingers could get together and write some stories and we could then write comments under their stories? ;-)

Gee, thats funny. I just clicked on the Kotaku link and found out who gave the award and other stuffs too! I only read the four paragraph synopsis once and haven't had my coffee!

There's a reason why I read the Inquirer less and less these days... I used to read, and re-read it twice during my morning cup of coffee. But now as I read Nick Farrell's latest entry, complete with bad spelling and a slightly negative slant in his writing towards Sid Meier I've come to understand that perhaps it is one man that is bring down this once great site. I see alot of articles with his name, and very few I consider worth while. This Sid Mier bit is far from funny, it even fails to mention who gave the award... /sigh I will be going elsewhere I suppose. Which is sad, Mr. McGee the day you do some house cleaning is the day will return.
