Get this, DELL has made a 'internal' deal with Seagate to buy the manufacturer's warranty. What does this mean to the consumer? It means that Maxtor will NOT honor what would have been their manufacturer's warranty (3 years) when the hard drive fails. The user would have to go back to DELL.
Dell would then decide what length of time the warranty lasted, based on wether the consumer bough the extended warranty. This means that DELL is stealing two years of manufacturer warranty for the hard drive, but will SELL it back to the user.
Stay away from DELL, they care only for money.
