Get a PS3, much better value for your money, Oblivion looks great on it and don't forget FF XIII coming out soon.
The PS3 automatically upscales any standard DVD playback to full 1080P resolution if you have a TV that can support it.

Looks like the Bluray spec will finally be catching up to HDDVD.. I was already able to download videos using the _Transformers_ HDDVD, without having to join some grotty Sony Live junk.. 

And why would one buy this garbage for $400 when they could get a PS3? For the IR remote capability? The leather? The Machismo?

I am filled with meh, and I'll wait until the 45nm PS3 plus price drop (or larger disk for equal $$) or until Criterion starts shitting out Bluray Kurosawa stuff..
