Aspect ratio?

Now that's a weird aspect ratio, equal number of pixels, but 45 x 46cm ? I thought that a circle has to be a circle, not an oval, on x-ray.

This is news?

From the information reported, I fail to see how this new product is such a revolution considering the similar products from Hamamatsu and Perkin Elmer that have been available for years.

Even then, cost tends to be a prohibiting factor for many, in comparison with the old Intensifier/camera combo of old.

film ?

Digital x-ray detectors are mainstream since 10 years ago. And some other companies make flat panel detectors. Samsung's advertising is misleading in saying they are beginning the "x-ray digital era".

As stated above, this is not new technology. See also www.trixell.com another fpd.
Does the samsung fpd need calibrating every
24hrs? and a constant power supply?
