Isn't the difference between Nintendo's and Microsoft's views on the third party sales down to the x-axis on their charts?

Nintendo is saying it sold more third party software in the first x months of release compared to the xbox360 or ps3.

Micosoft are saying that in terms of absolute sales they sold more third party titles. But over a longer period (having released 12 months before Ninty and Sony).

It gets sad, when they start talking about games per console as a measure of loyalty and success.

Isn't that supposed to be about playing the games?
