Hi! I'm a Mac, I pay a huge premium even for entry-level hardware compared to my fat PC compatriot here.

Hi! I'm a PC. I'd buy the cheap PC version of that video card for the cheap-ass homemade DVR I hook up to my TV. I wouldn't even bother with it for my main machine, let alone pay that price.
This is good. At least AMD is giving us a graphics card alternative. Usually, we can only get what Apple decides to give us. More products = more choice = good thing.

I hope AMD is going to bring the 4870 too.
Who games on a MAC anyway...this will make those 3 or 4 year old PC leftovers look great ...HAHAHAHA

This is like announcing z rated hi performance tires for a Yugo.....LOL LOL LOL

serves you right for buying a mac. Its not like this has been hidden away or anything. Macs arent gaming machines, and so this is a good upgrade for those systems, but seriously, its not rocket science, if you dont want to be ripped off, then biuld a pc or buy a ps3 or xbox. Its that simple.

the 2 litre engine in a mondeo is still a 2 litre engine even if its in a mondeo, but you can spend twice as much on a 2 litre engine if you want a german badge on the front. Same applies here. If status us more important to you than price and performance, then you are a mac owner and you probably wont mind paying twice as much as everyone else for last years graphics cards.

There's a 3870 for a whopping $130.

Mac owners are paying a 60% price premium for technology that will be (within the coming weeks) last-gen.

You have to be able to dump all the 3870's floating around SOMEWHERE, why not on Jobs' Mobs, who will pay hand over fist to get their wallet stolen.

Flame on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to have something better than my X1900XT in my Mac Pro, but isn't the new 4870 coming out soon???

I know the Mac video cards are always lagging, but this just doesn't make sense....

Nothing new there then ;)
Be happy that you get last generation stuff :-) - a 4870 will sure follow soon.

They're going to make 3870's to fit in PCI slots? Or did you mean PCI-e?
