here or there ?

ya but is your connction really running slower or is the speed test connection just maxed out in the evening during peak time,
its all really silly, is it the broadband thats slowing down or are the content provider running out of bandwith at peak times or is it the internet backbones in Britannia.
if i had to guess, it just the pipes running across the pond to all the good content that are maxing out

Which is why...

..I am sticking with Bulldog 8mbit for as long as I can/ I get full speeds ALL of the time. This is due to NTL's undersold and rather fat pipeline. Being under at first Pipex and then Tiscali's banner has not affected me (Yet). Also rumours are rife that Tiscali may sell to Vodaphone.

And Cows Go "Moo"

Holy shit! I can't believe someone was actually paid, to come up with this report. Maybe I could get a grant to form a report on how driving faster consumes more fuel.

Earth to Cowzilla: it's called irony. "Stating even more of the absolutely bleedin' obvious". Jeez you yanks just don't get it. Look at the headline!

it's not physics

it's mathematics - namely queuing theory. In fact network latency calculations and predictions was the area where the whole theory evolved from.

DSL only?

Does this phenomenum occur only for DSL (where contention is a huge issue) or are cable users also hit with this reduction in bandwidth?

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
