"We want to forbid these dealers from our marketplace," he said, adding that the ban would encompass eBay's sites in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Witt said the ban would be extended to France, Italy and Spain, with more European countries to follow. A previous ban is already in place in the United Kingdom, Witt said."

If an offline auctioneer allows fake stuff to be sold through it's catalogue without taking steps to establish its authenticity, they are guilty of flogging fake goods.

If Ebay is prepared to take a slice of the cash from a sale, then it should also be prepared to take the same sort of steps real auctioneers do to prevent dodgy goods being sold.
