I know it's not safe but...

I always disable Windows Update, and never had problems with any version (XP or Vista). I know there are a lot of security breaches, but most of them are false alerts and the victims are large enterprise servers, not average Joe home user. I also know that this is a compromise: stay patched and up-to-date, but every day new vulnerabilities appear, then why bother?? It a vicious circle...They fool us, we believe and pay....

AT adds: Microsoft is charging for Windows Update? Sounds like a story...

Small number...

"a small number of customers in unique circumstances".

Yep the 3 people who bought it and they claim they had their drinks spiked before they did it.

Exaggerating as always

When it comes to Microsoft The Inquirer is always distorting the reality. I myself had the problem with that update and it does not reboot the pc just after install it does not register as being installed. After downloading the standalone installer it was just fine.

KB937287 still on Windows Update

KB937287 is still an update tagged to download by default, of type "Important", on Windows Update, as of 3:30p.m., Pacific Standard Time (the time that this comment was written).

Maybe Microsoft pulled it from the prerequisites for Vista SP1, but not from Windows Update??? Or Maybe Microsoft simply is in the process of pulling it??? Or maybe Microsoft simply is considering pulling it??? Or maybe Microsoft is simply pulling a fast one???

Vista reboots- not fun

This article caught my attention immediately, as I had a similar situation occur a few days ago. My Vista 32 bit machine rebooted 3 times, and appeared to hang as well during the process. I chose to wait it out rather than pull the plug and it finally all went through, but I was definitely worried. Sure enough in my update log, there is good 'ole KB937287 on my machine, installed 2/12.

Saw it happen

It happened to my brother's laptop, Dell Inspiron 6400. We had to reinstall Vista and he has now applied SP1 to it
