It was about 15 seconds to find the above mentioned store with the search for '5% discount firefox'. The first two links were articles where the authors included the link and name of that store...
Seems to be called tekfix, looks a small enough discount to be genuine. And some websites I visit work better with fuego-zorro than with safari.
Happy New Year!
I decided to investigate this store. Some info...

First, it is a single store (no chain or online outlet here) in the middle of rural Australia, about 130km from a state capital city. Hardly easy to get to.

Its prices are hideously expensive. Examples:
- Phenom 9500 is AU$329 when they can be had for as low as AU$248 and AU$265-280 is a good price in Australia.
- Leadtek 8800GT 512 is AU$459 when they can be had for as low as AU$356 and AU$375-390 is a good price in Australia.

Saving 5% on these prices is pointless, and the whole promotion is a bit of a joke.
your decision to exclude the name and possible URL of the shop is pretty asinine, and a disservice to your readers. Let THEM decide if they want it. don't be so obnoxious as to decide for them.
So, do I get a 5% Discount for Changing my User-Agent String?
Well, not only is this a lame stunt by whichever online shop has decided to pull of... it's relatively easy to change your User-Agent String even on IE7 which is used to identify your browser.

Add that with a minute on Google and you'll easily find out what Firefox's User-Agent String is, which you can then change to in order to fool the silly site into thinking that you're on FireFox.

Sigh.
Can anyone say discrimination?

there was a big who-haa several years ago when certain large online retailers were giving different prices depending if you where viewing from the UK or France, that stopped before the lawsuits, i wonder if this will too!
Just change the user agent string and/or other identifiers to Firefox's.

Only do it if you feel you deserve a discount based on browser choice. This advice is not open to IE users for that reason.
Now give discounts to people using Safari, Konqueror, Opera, Camino, SeaMonkey, Omniweb, Flock...

The overzealous Firefox fanboyism is really getting on my nerves.
If they truely want to encourage alternative browerser, why then just Firefox.

If I were shopping, I would hate to have to downgrade from Opera to Firefox, just to get a discount...

by using firefox is upgrading ...not downgrade. You can have 2 browser running instead of just opera....
Can I get that discount by changging my default IE Agent?

At least it gets them away from i.e :)

So this means all those articles where you do mention the name, you get paid to write it up eh.. thanks for that info.

...which is interesting. Because of MS's prolifreation into the market this guy has a business.....
WIll the shop in question also be giving Aborigines a discount?
great call on leaving out the name of the shop and url.
