If these are the chips with which Intel is attempting to compete with ARM (why couldn't we all get along, like in the XScale days?) then I assume the irony is deliberate.

Or maybe they're not planning on really being competitive with ARM for a few more years, and they thought they'd start with the (BBC) basics.

This is whats GOOD about making your own Wafers, having engineering staff & Robust thought to market, marketing. If only Some of VERY Expensive Card Makers would have such POWER, FOOLISHLY High prices would FALL.

Maybe after this they'll release one called the Intel Electron!

Ooh, and after that, they could start work on one called a Proton, but then get paid lots by a corporate sponsor and just call it the BBC chip...
