What about grammar. I can accept the language manipulation part (I suppose you have to know how to spell the word in order to strip the vowels out of it), but if I see "should of" or "could of" one more time....

Look at it from different perspective

I believe using abbreviated words was 'invented' because of 160 char sms limit.

T9 anyone???

It is my understanding that most people who are texting do not have QWERTY on their phones and use T9. In which case they wouldn't be abbreviating all of these words in the first place.

Stupid companies use commercials to spread this abbreviated-slang-lie to all the drones in America. I don't know if this applies in Europe, but that's the way it is over here in the US.

If anything, internet forums and mmo's are causing this poor grammar problem with children using leet speak whenever they can.

The French are rabid linguiphobes so I am sure that the guillotine will be dusted off to deal with txting there.
