Funny, my experience is exactly the opposite, well, not entirely.
Every company I worked in hardly had any women in IT as co-workers.
The ones we had were all in IT management, putting them above us workers, they are all blond, lookers and none of them have any idea about IT. They know what a server and desktop is, but anything else is a mystery to them.
Anyone who has ever worked for a female boss in IT knows why it is ths way already.

They're either overly bitchy in an attempt to constantly remind us that her ovaries are bigger than our testicles.

Nervous because they think they are under constant scrutiny, so they micromanage their own team and neglect some of their job duties.

They work really hard, but burn out due to stresses and things beyond their control (which can happen to anyone really.

I'm not sexist. I just think women shouldn't be allowed to run computers or drive on the roads.

Clinton 2008!!
The reason there are not many women in higher IT positions in my company is because until just recently there were no women AT ALL in IT in my company. They can't expect to jump up to positions it takes years to get to that are still occupied by others who've worked up to it, can they?
"Plenty of women are put off a career in IT, 34 per cent saying because it was male dominated. Fifteen per cent said it was because of IT's "geeky reputation. ""

We could always sex it up for the ladies in the best possible of all tastes.

What would they find attractive/captivating/addictive? :-)
Listen, all the research in the world will not change human nature. Wonen, like men, are naturally drawn to things that they like.
Why do female babies make more eye contact than male babies?
Why are boys more likely to get into physical fights than girls?

Why is it that men with asperger syndrome outnumber women some 100 to 1?

Why is it that womn communicate better than men?

Truly what I have stated here is just the tip of the iceburg.

As for wages, women should get equal pay in any wok place.

But its hardly surprising that the most IT employees are male & thus proportionately most IT execs are male DUH!

Heck, why not have a survey for La Inq? what is the precentage of readers that are male??

Why isn't the inquirer trying to encourage female IT readers to, err, read?
Fact is, most women are not inclined to do so. It is not a matter of intelligence, just a matter of preference.

P.S.

Like I actively choose not to read cosmo.
ok, so if one third of IT women say that there arent women in the senior management of their business, doesnt that mean that the other 2/3 said there was one? come on people, do the math. sounds like somebody needs to go back to grade school.
Women and computers? Don't be silly.

It amazes me that people actually bother to research things that are blatently obvious! There is not a single surprise in the whole article!
