UAVs are already in use, according to the adverts on telly.

I think some sort of mini wireless cameras and microphones that could be "shot" at the enemy area. This could provide picture and sound, and maybe even talking them into surrenduring. Also, if the devices are gps capable then the troops could have the data displayed on a laptop screen. Zooming in to the areas the camers and microphones cover and seeing the enemy.

Maybe the rat brained robot could be used!
