repulsive Newegg shipping

I have tried 4 times to ship to my grand-daughter. Citibank has called me to make sure my card is not being miss-used. But I cannot ship to her! Citi has no provision for adding a ship-to address. Their arrangement with PayPal also only allows me to add a ship-to that is the same as my bill-to! I think NewEgg is a piece of junk! They should figure a way to talk to someone and allow a ship to address different from the bill-to. They are the only I-net co. that cannot be flexible, They have not only lost my business, but my confidence. I will only speak bad about them.

@linux printing

Typically in the linux/BSD realm you set up a smart printer filter, e.g. ghostscript so it is postscript compatible, and have your app. print postscript via lpr, or print to a postscript file and send that to the printer.

apsfilter is a great package for this, and allows one to print almost any file via lpr and it automagically does the right thing.

apsfilter also allows you to test drivers for older versions of the printer brand to see if one will handle the basic need of the printer.

For Mike the ATI All In Wonder owner...

Setup Multimedia Center, press on "Custom Installation", and install the ATI TV and nothing else -because everything else is rubbish- and there you go :)

Be happy! :)

Newegg Commenter is right

I too live in the caribbean and was a happy customer of the Egg until roughly a year ago.

Newegg no longer accepts orders from credit cards issued outside of the united states and will put you through the wringer to find out why if you place an order and it fails.

I found this out last year when i ordered something from them and imy shipment got delayed, i called to find out the status of my order and i had a customer service rep testily tell me that they no longer accept credit cards issued outside of the united states and that my order had indeed been shipped but that was a "mistake" (like if i snuck something past them) and will not happen again.

So don't say the guy is talking nonsense, the egg has become decidedly rotten to international constomers.

With regard to not seeing the website i can see it just fine still so probably is the guy's isp.

the Q6600

Most online etailers (or is that redundant?) will ship you the processor in stock and do not bin, this is an industry wide practice. Tankguys is the only place I know that will guarantee a G0 stepping for the Q6600, that's where I got mine.

Funny thing about Newegg

Newegg is great, it's where I get all my pc components. There's one thing I really hate though, and that's the fact that they switched all their cheapest/default shipping over to UPS from FedEx. I submitted a testimonial, so they sent out their free "thank you" gift, which was sent via FedEx, and I made another purchase the same day which shipped via UPS. They shipped the same day, and the gift package shipped via FedEx arrived in 2 business days, whereas my order shipped via UPS arrived in 3 business days...

I want FedEx Super Saver as the cheapest and default again.

NEWEGG OK

I have purchased thousands of dollars in parts from Newegg with no problems. However I do my shopping in the US and have the parts shipped to the same address.
I would rather see the limitations on the credit card use than have to deal with the increase in prices to cover the credit card fraud. If you can live in paradise, maybe you should shop in paradise.

Newegg IS the best!

I hate to tell you, but Newegg doesnt apply any shipping verification tactics that arent implemented by the majority of online vendors.

Its for security/anti-fraud, and it works. I buy stuff and have it sent to people's houses all the time, no problem at all.

I have been a customer with Newegg from their conception, and even before. Thats right, I was a faithful customer when they were Surplus Auction, before it became Newegg.

They have always made RMAs as painless as possible, had competitive prices, and lightning fast order processing. In fact, most orders ship the same day.......... not "3 - 5 business days" like a lot of the crackpot competitors do, which is ridiculous.

You get email confirmation for order, credit card charge going through, shipping with tracking #, then finally, an invoice. NO ONE else Ive dealt with in my 15+ years does that! They send you exactly what you order, unlike Asendtech and Infinity.

Newegg is still here, Monarch and others have gone by the way, so Newegg must be doing something right. I have tried other vendors and ALWAYS had problems and regrets. I never stray from the Egg anymore.

Newegg has lost another customer

I am looking to build another computer.

Like I have done in the past I go to Newegg for the best prices and most up to date products.

My goal is to buy a Q6600 G0 stepping cpu new heatsink and fan. Problem is Newegg is still selling the B3 stepping. I'm shocked. Does Intel still make the B3 stepping q6600 or do they only only build G0 now?

I sent off an email to Newegg asking them why they don't give their customers a choice on Cpu steppings. All I got was some lame excuse saying we don't do or can't do that and all our products are the most up todate inventory.

For some of you 300 USD is no bid deal to spend on new processor. Am I being overly picky? Look for yourself at all the responces from customers wishing they got the G0 stepping over the B3.I asked"How hard is it to add another entry to their website for a q6600 with the SLcar listing so that the customers can buy what they want?"

Guess I will be spending my money elsewhere

Newegg not so rotten...

Other than blocking outside visitors (which still sounds fishy to me) most of this guys complaints are rubbish.

If you've been a newegg user for so long, you should know that not every item has had free shipping. It has usually been on items Newegg is trying to push out the door, which 5 years ago when I started using them, was a large portion of their inventory. Since they dont need to attract new customers now, there is no need for that.

The shipping requirement on your credit card? Again, sooooo 5 years ago. My bank+Newegg had no problems with this requirement. BoA sucks IMHO anyway.

The shipping confirmation? Unless you're trying to ship to a P.O. box, I dont see how the hell you have a problem with that. I can ship to businesses, apartments, schools, pretty much anywhere using their shipping verification tool. Don't ship you're new rig to the boondocks and this shouldn't be a problem. Shoot, my rent's house is in the middle of nowhere and they ship there...

Lastly, their customer service has always been spot on. It's the reason they've done so well in the last 5 years. RMAs are quick and painless, orders are shipped practically the same day, the prices are very agreeable, and their reliability in ACTUALLY SENDING WHAT I ORDERED (this is a warning to you ZipZoomFly) is without a doubt the greatest in the industry.

So sorry if you're feeling like you've been dealt a few rotten eggs. Just dont spread your hate without understanding that your situation is probably closer to 1 in a million

newegg comments incorrect

I've shopped with newegg since they opened. They never offered free shipping on all items and they still offer free shipping on some.

They always have required the shipping address verification. Your bank should be able to handle this as a secondary address. It used to be that every online retailer did this -- no gift shipping. Many retailers do allow gift shipping but they open themselves up to more credit card fraud in doing so.

I can't comment on whether you can or should be able to peruse newegg's website from the "Caribbean paradise" but that sounds like a problem with your 3rd world net provider to me and not newegg's. Here's my rule of thumb: 99% of all scams originate between Florida, the Caribbean countries and Nigeria. And it sounds like you did fine in the context of finding what you wanted from their catalogue.

I could care less about how you feel toward newegg but the whole story should be told.

About the Newegg Shipping Address Confirmation

The shipping address check is a very simple anti-fraud procedure, and it is quite ingenious in my opinion.

Although inconvenient, it makes sure that stolen credit cards cannot be used to buy items unless the card is transfered through a paypal account, which would in such a circumstance reveal the identity of the credit card thief to the real card owner, and their respective bank.

I see your point, but this is a tolerable system if it prevents stolen credit cards from being used, at least on that site. If someone in my company though of this, I'd give them a bonus to be honest.

NewEgg Free Shipping

Free Shipping are generally paid for by NewEgg's vendors in the way of 'special promotion fee' paid to new NewEgg.

When their vendors are not offering 'promotion fee,' you don't get Free Shipping. With some of the items sold by NewEgg clearing less than 1 percent in GROSS profitto expect free shipping is ridiculous anyways.

Had stuff shipped to work no problem

NewEgg hasn't had any problems with me getting orders shipped to my work address (which is not "registered with my CC company). I have been buying stuff from them for several years, and have two things to say about their shipping:

1. Their default shipping is fairly priced
2. Their default shipping is blindingly fast.

Seriously, I have ordered stuff and had it delivered within two days. They claim the default shipping is UPS Ground, which usually takes at least a week. I don't know what they do to speed UPS up, but I have no complaints about the shipping charges.

Happy NewEgg customer.

Linux Printing

Don't blame Linux, and don't blame the supporters of ODF, the blame belongs to printer manufacturers.

Hewlett Packard has supported Linux very well for many years, but Canon and most of the other printer manufacturers simply could not be less interested in supporting Linux users. Apparently there's no money in it for them.

So vote with your wallet: don't buy products from manufacturers who don't support Linux. now go and get a nice HP printer and all will be well.

Not just NewEgg

I've had a half-dozen sites require the same shipping address confirmation. This is NOT a NewEgg issue. NewEgg is still, from my experience, the best on the web for what they do.

Newegg is not rotten!

As I read this I am waiting for a knock on my door from the UPS guy with my new 2gig kit of Corsair Dominitor memory.

I ordered it on Wednesday for $181, and on Thursday morning I saw that the price had dropped to $170. I clicked on the "Chat with Support" button and in less than 5 mins. and no arguing or fuss I was given the lower price.

I do feel the same about the q6600 GO stepping as the guy above. I just built a new rig last month, and ordered everything from Newegg except the CPU because I wasn't sure I could get a GO. That is the only down thing I can say, and that isn't that big a deal.

I will be buying from them in the future as well.
